Maybe someone that is interested in this app could post their experience with a windows machine - curious if its more reliable or not
GOOGLE PLAY IDISPLAY UPDATE
UPDATE 3: Restart BOTH phone and computer and it seems to clear something to make it reconnect as it should I wish they allowed for usb tether to do this - anyone know if an app is out there to make a screen extension?
GOOGLE PLAY IDISPLAY FOR ANDROID
Very unpolished application and sad they have decided to start charging for it already - should be free until polished if they want to brag they have it available for android - very rushed out to monetize on its "feature" So far I have found no reliable way to connect - continuously restarting both phone and desktop apps - it appears in android app to connect but ends up failing after clicking "Allow" on macbook pro Will update with more experience in a minute - having troubles reconnecting after the first time
Once desktop app is opened and you've successfully connected once (i clicked always allow) it should show up on android devices list of connections available. The desktop client seems a little finicky after I force closed it once and refuses to open a couple times / takes a long time and bounces for a while but finally opened Your computer monitor may become tiny when disconnecting or if theres a connection error - in system preferences -> displays -> arrangements -> make sure you do not have "Mirrored" Checked - i did and this solved the issue To find your port and IP address - go to the top tool bar (on your mac) there should be an idisplay icon that you can click to show what they are so you can enter manually if you need to on your android device - seems to take a LONG time to bring this window open ~5 minutes
GOOGLE PLAY IDISPLAY HOW TO
Will post more once i figure out how to get the Virtual Display Driver "working properly"Ī simple restart of computer got my driver to work properly
Overall disappointed so far in the lack of user friendliness of this app Make sure you have your iDisplay Desktop App installed already (and working properly) before purchasing if you want to have a remote chance to have the option to refund if its not something you wantĤ. as i stated before - i havent even gotten it working yet due to my mac pro (mid 2009) not having the virtual display driver working properly and that i need to contact Shape Support to get it working (FAIL)ģ. 15 minutes to return the app - 15 minutes is not even close enough to run it through a test. Installation = pain in the ass - could only get it to download via wifi on my USA sprint EVO 4g while abroad - apparently paid apps internationally arent available as easily ( have a nexus one and a nexus S ) and could only get EVO to downloadĢ. Impressions so far (i havent even gotten it to work yet)ġ.
i miss having my multiple displays to do a few simple things in my office (transferring excel info into our management system etc) I work remotely quite a bit in another country and while I just have a laptop with me. I was pleased to see that I would finally have the opportunity to experience an app that i've longed for that ios has had for a while.
